How Ron Assesses Your Home
Every assessment starts with one question, “what’s your goal?” Before Ron looks at a single window, he wants to understand what you’re trying to solve. That’s what tells him how to assess your home, and what solution will actually meet your needs.
Most homeowners come to Ron with one of three goals:
“My bills are too high.”
If high energy bills are the main concern and your windows and insulation are in reasonable shape, Ron looks at where your money is best spent. Depending on the home, that can include home solar, envelope improvements, or a targeted window upgrade, whatever delivers the biggest return for your budget.
“My home is uncomfortable.”
Drafts, cold spots, and rooms that never feel right point Ron toward your building envelope. He checks the condition of your windows, the weather seals, the glass size, and whether the units are Low-E. If you’re not sure the windows are the problem, he can run a blower door test to measure exactly how much air is leaking in — especially around older casement and hinged windows — and check insulation levels in your attic and crawl space.
